Using a mix of appropriated, idealized, and personal imagery I compare utopic lifestyles to personal lifestyle. These works locate in places where different lifestyles push on each other, yet may also appear uncannily similar. Through comparison, along with the blending of these two worlds of expectation and reality I further question and criticize my intimate, personal plans and goals. I am interested in how these more concrete“directions” are effected by matters more ethereal such as dreams, memory, reality— past, present, future. In these works, nonsensical sculptures and uncanny imagery create conversations about wonder and curiosity towards utopias, dystopias, hopes and failures.
